3 things you probably didn't know about Texas

Hi everyone! Since our Plano Salon is getting settled in a new environment, we thought we’d share with you what we learned about Texas.

1. The origin of Texas
Did you know that the name “Texas” comes from the Indian language “Tejas” which means “friendship” and “allies”?

Way back in history, Texas was a province of Mexico, but from 1835 to 1836, Texas won its independence. Their victory called for a new flag which featured a white lone star and hence their nickname, “The Lone Star State” — a representation of pride and independence.

Staying true to its origins, the people in Texas are extremely friendly and we all take pride in the amazing state we live in.

2. It’s bigger than you think it is
Texas is the 2nd largest state in the U.S. both by area and population. So, everything is really spacious out here. Many people drive big pickup trucks and roads and parking spaces are nice and wide—Yes!! So much room to breathe.

3. The center of rapid growth
After the Civil War, livestock, especially cattle thrived and became the center of the industry. In the early 20th century Texas experienced an economic boom with the oil industry, which later developed into a diversified economy bringing in high-tech companies as well as other new businesses. Texas is now the 2nd highest in gross state product and continues to experience rapid growth.

So, there’s a glimpse of Texas! Viange Hair is proud to be in the middle of an amazing, innovative state. And don’t forget to visit us at our new salon in Plano, Texas!

Why top hairstylists recommend keratin shampoos

Did you know that keratin is naturally found in your hair? So what's the point of keratin shampoos? Read on and you'll find out.

What is keratin?
Keratin is a form of protein made of 18 different amino acids found in your hair, skin and nails. It’s an essential part of what makes your hair strong and healthy.

The benefits of keratin shampoo
Over time, keratin diminishes from your hair, making it more prone to dryness and breakage. This is where keratin shampoos come to the rescue. Keratin enriched shampoos help supply your hair with the needed protein to strengthen your hair for smooth, shiny and lively hair. It's also said to have anti-aging benefits for your scalp, which helps prevent hair loss and hair thinning.

At Viange Hair, we recommend the RENE FURTERER Absolue Keratine Shampoo and treatments. For those who have brittle, dry or coarse hair due to perming or bleaching this is the perfect shampoo for you. Give it a try on your next visit to Viange Hair!

Meet the Stylists Keiko (Nail Artist)

Stylist: Keiko
Main Branch: Saratoga Salon

Q: Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? What are some of your career highlights?
A: I'm from Okayama Prefecture, Japan. 15 years ago, when I started studying, nail art wasn't such a major profession. I remember I didn't have much choice with only 1 or 2 nail art schools. My family was clueless about what being a "nail artist" meant. It was a difficult time to start because the industry itself was still very small. Even after graduating school, a nail artist assistant wasn't enough to pay the bills, so I had to work multiple jobs.

But thanks to the tremendous popularity of the nail industry thereafter, I was fortunate enough to meet many customers and eventually owned a nail salon of my own.

When I first came to the states, I was surprised by the low awareness of nail art and gel nail, as well as the cultural differences of working in different countries. I've come to realize the pros of both cultures and having that in mind, I want to spread the high quality of Japanese nail art in the US.

Q: What's your specialty?
A: I'd call myself a color expert. I love creating fun and fashionable nails so creating unique colors is my specialty. It's not just about the bright and bold colors. It's about choosing the right colors that match your skin but still incorporating creativity and originality.

Q: Why did you become a nail artist?
A: I loved painting my nails from when I was a little kid. I would always use my mom's nail polish and then take it off before I went to school since nail polish was not allowed in most schools in Japan. When it came time to really think about my career, I couldn't think of any other job that allows you to be an artisan and still be fashionable at the same time.

Q: What do you love about your job?
A: Nothing is routine. That's what I love. It's different every single day with every single customer. For instance, a simple French Nail can turn out to be such a unique experience depending on the base color, the curve of the nail and even the conversation I have with the customer.

As the nail industry rapidly grew over the past 15 years, new products have come out into the market. The plethora of new products out there brings out the curiosity inside of me, so I'm constantly looking for new and innovative products to make the nail art experience a better one.

Q: Tell us about your aspirations.
A:Nail artist for life. I want to be the neighborhood, super-rad grandma nail artist.

Q: Who's your muse and why?
A: I look up to every single nail artist bringing enthusiasm to the industry. I believe there's a lot to learn from every single one of them. It's so exciting to see how this industry will grow in the future along with the emerging and talented nail artists.

Q: What do you do on your free time?
A: After moving to California, I fell in love with the weather here. I'm usually relaxing with my dog at the park, relaxing at home, relaxing while watching my husband surf... Gee, I guess I like to relax!

Q: What’s your favorite quote?

A: Confidence comes from discipline and hard work.

The most important step in hairstyling has nothing to do with hair.

Hi there, from our newly opened Plano, Texas Salon! Today, we want to tell you what goes through the mind of a hairstylist at Viange Hair and the most important aspect we value throughout the whole entire process.

Your vision
Every single customer who walks into a salon has a vision. A vision filled with hope and excitement. That's why our process always starts with a consultation. It is our job to thoroughly communicate with you to understand that vision.

Your current hair situation
Is your hair suited for what you envision? Depending on your hair texture and / or the amount of hair damage, there may be situations where your dream style is unrealistic or your hair just may not be ready for it. In those situations, we make sure we communicate our honest opinions and propose the best way to make your vision come to life.

Beautiful hair long after you walk out of the salon
Hairstyles with layers and perms especially require daily care and styling. In this case, we will always make sure to give advice on what hair products to use and how to style your hair, so you feel comfortable doing it on your own. After all, beautiful hair should be an everyday thing. Not just at the salon.

What are your pain points and how can we help?
Hair loss, volume, damage... Whatever it is that's bugging you, we want to know because it's not just about creating great hair design. It's also about understanding the root of the problem and providing a solution.

Were you satisfied?
After we've finished styling your hair, it's important to know how you feel about it. Our services are not finished until you feel complete satisfaction.

You see, it's the communication and trust that separates us from other salons. Of course we've got the technique and the experience. But we believe that the most important step in hairstyling is establishing a trusting relationship with our customers.

Come and experience it for yourself.
