The most important step in hairstyling, most hair salons skip.

There's a lot that goes through a hairstylist's mind—and it's not all about hairstyle.

What made you leave your previous salon and come to us?
What's bugging you and what do you want to see improved with your hair?
How do you normally take care of your hair?
How do you style your hair every day?

These are some of the questions we ask before we start creating your desired hairstyle. You see, we take consultation seriously. Why? Because it's important for us to understand our customers and where they're coming from. It's not about making your hair pretty for one day. It's about understanding the root of the problem and providing a solution for long-lasting beauty.

Come and experience it for yourself.

Want healthy hair? This is the one place you should be treating.

Hair loss, dryness, dullness? You name it. Almost any kind of hair problem stems from an unhealthy scalp. What's your solution? —A scalp treatment.

Globally renowned for over 60 years, Rene Furterer is a natural hair care brand we use in all of our salons. As the founder of the brand coined it, "Beautiful hair grows from a healthy scalp like a plant in fertile soil." Rene Furterer uses carefully selected essential oils to bring out the innate healing power of natural plants.

So, what exactly is scalp treatment? A scalp treatment purifies and unclogs your hair follicles. With proper massaging, it also promotes blood circulation so essential nutrients can better reach deep down into your roots for long-lasting healthy hair. Plus, here's another reason you should get a scalp treatment—it's super relaxing.

We recommend a scalp treatment at our salon at least once a month, but for those who prefer to do it themselves at home, it's certainly possible. Try Rene Furterer's COMPLEXE 5, a product used to massage your scalp before shampooing. It purifies your scalp and increases microcirculation for a healthy scalp and beautiful hair.

Digital perm vs. Regular perms

We get a lot of questions from our customers on the difference between a regular perm and a digital perm.

Although there are different factors you need to consider when deciding which perm to go with, we usually recommend regular (cold) perms for short to medium length hair. With regular perms, your hair is most curly when it's wet, and it tends to loosen when your hair dries. Once you get used to styling your perm, your morning's a breeze! You also want to note that regular perms will involve applying a perming solution to your scalp, so it may not be for people who have sensitive skin.

Digital perms are for people who have unruly, coarse hair which is usually difficult to curl. Digital perms use the power of heat to recompose the structure of your hair strands and usually lasts more than 6 months. With this perm, your hair is curlier when dry, compared to when it's wet.

For a detailed explanation of the pros and cons of each, check out our blog post: Cold or Digital? How to figure out which perm's for you and consult your hairstylist for the right perm for you!

Beauty Sleep for Beautiful Hair

Are you getting enough beauty sleep? Not only is getting enough sleep important for your body, but it plays an important role in the growth of your healthy hair. Sleep allows the body to repair and regenerate. And it's no exception for your hair.

If you're experiencing hair loss, you may need to reevaluate your sleep routine. Your hair greatly depends on the proper release of growth hormones. 10pm to 2pm is often called the golden hour because that's when your growth hormones are released the most. Hormonal release comes to a peak around 1am to 2am. That's why it's ideal to fall asleep by 10pm, no later than 11pm.

Well, wouldn't it be the same if you just catch up on lack of nighttime sleep during the daytime for 1-2 hours? Many people may think that this is the solution. But in fact, it's important to get enough quality sleep for proper hormonal generation. 1-2 hours of napping in the daytime is not considered quality sleep. Plus, napping in the daytime may make you go to sleep later at night, inviting a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation.

So there you have it! Sleep! For your health and for your beauty.
